Walmart To Start Selling ETSY Products

BROOKLYN, Ny —

The arts and crafts marketplace which has dominated the internet by providing an outlet where handmade items could be sold by artisans, has now teamed up with big box superstore, Walmart.

“Etsy started out as cute, then it became trendy and cool, and now it is at a place where it has gone mainstream, it has grown that big. Obviously when you reach the mainstream, that’s where we come in to help out and establish a more real world presence in the marketplace,” stated Walmart spokesman Joshua Nelson.

Indeed Etsy has come a long way. A recent story making the rounds across the internet states that a California housewife is making $70,000 a month selling hand knit socks on Etsy. Many others make more modest living’s off Etsy, such as Jack Reevers from Kentucky who has made 60k a year for the last 3 years, producing original leather dominatrix whips.

“This is the way of things. Growth is good. You have to keep growing. Even Walmart recognizes that even though it is the biggest retailer around, it still has to grow the most. That’s why it needs to feed off of any and all small retail outlets. It’s a brilliant move from Walmart as they essentially just gobbled up thousands of small time retailers whom they can use to feed the appetite of continued increase profit margin,” says Jan Muldane who sells shoestrings made out of driftwood on Etsy.

Walmart already has an outsource mechanism in place to meet the growing demand of Etsy interested customers. Crafters will be given a list of 60-100 Walmart affiliated factories in China who will be able to outsource all production needs. Crafters will have to streamline their product into a more homogenized mold so products can be produced quickly without any personalized touches added, which would take too much time and cause too much confusion to the mainstream consumer.

“This makes it so much easier. A lot of my positive comments on Etsy are always saying things like ‘LOVE the personalized touch,’ or ‘truly a one-of-a-kind finely crafted product,’ and now, finally, I can get away from the personalization aspect and instead focus on the mass marketing aspect,” states Molly McGaffer, another Etsy crafter specializing in personalized hand written hemp wrist watch bands.
