Mitt Romney Declines a 2016 Presidential Run: Fears Cosby, Welcomes Cruise
WASHINGTON, DC. While many thought Mitt Romney to be the front running presidential candidate for 2016, it now appears a presidential run is not in the cards for the man who came close to becoming president 3 years ago. Romney announced he would not be seeking to run again in 2016.
“You know that I have wanted to be that president. But I do not want to make it more difficult for someone else to emerge who may have a better chance of becoming that president,” he said.
The real speculation as to why the would-be shoe in candidate declined a run, seems to center around two prominent entertainment figures and their actions in regards to politics and religion.
The first being Bill Cosby and his reported interest in running for president on an independent ticket with Phylicia Rashad as his running mate. Romney expressed both concern for the circus environment that would create and his desire to distance his legacy from such.
The other figure is Tom Cruise and his recent distancing from the Scientology religion due largely to a documentary film which appeared at the Sundance Film Festival. In it Cruise is revealed to be an enabler who turns the other cheek when church abuses take place. The rumors have it that Cruise is setting up a move to make a major jump out of Scientology and into Mormonism.
Political insider Ernersto Wallace emailed his comments on Romney’s motivations.
“Mitt would LOVE to be there at Tom’s side when he makes this momentous jump over to Mormonism. This move will definitely give Mormons the star power they need to advance their ideology. So for Mitt, it basically comes down to religion or politics? He feels he can have more manipulative power in the religion arena than the political one, and can’t pass up the major star power that Mormonism is about to experience.”
