Mickey Rourke To Fight Green Power Ranger
MOSCOW, Russia. After returning to the ring after a 20 year absence, 62-year-old actor Mickey Rourke was victorious in a bout against 29-year-old Elliot Seymour last November. Rourke scored a knockout in the second round.
The victory has been clouded with strong speculation that the bout was fixed. Seymour, the opponent, confirmed this in a video interview, stating he was promised $15,000 for taking a fall in the second round. He also claims Rourke knew nothing about the fix, and it was Rourke’s handlers who had set the whole thing up.
Nevertheless Rourke promised to fight 3 times this year and is now under enormous pressure to prove himself in the ring against a legitimate opponent who won’t take a bribe to lose.
That opponent appears to be Tommy, the Green Power Ranger, aka Jason David Frank.
Frank, who starred in the popular 90’s show Power Rangers, is now a legitimate Mixed Martial Artist and has fought inside the cage on numerous occasions. He will try his hand at a boxing match against Rourke sometime in April.
“I’m legit and the transition to boxing is not a big deal at all. I regularly train with boxing coaches all the time. It’s part of my daily MMA training.”
The former Green Power Ranger went on to say, “Mickey wants this so let’s do it. I respect the hell out of him as an actor, but with all due respect this is my world and it is my time. He had his day in the ring, and unfortunately he is going to get beat up trying to relive a sport that he should let go off. Having said that, the guy’s in absolutely phenomenal shape, I hear he trains like a beast and I know he has some serious heart…all of those combined do make him very, very dangerous.”
The match is slated to take place in Russia, sometime in April.
