Brian Williams Golden Gloves Boxing Claim False

NEW YORK, NY – 

As bogus claims mount against news anchor Brian Williams who had initially been called out for saying he was in a helicopter that was under fire in Iraq, when in fact he was not, a recent finding claims another falsehood: Brian was never a champion prize fighter.

Williams boasted for years that he was a former Golden Gloves Boxer, and even bragged with socialites how he had been pondering about getting back in the ring and perhaps even trying his hand at mixed martial arts. As it turns out, the boxing claim is false. The photo that he had passed around appears to look like a younger Williams, but is actually a photo of another Williams; not Brian, but Evan Williams, a successful fighter from South Wales.

Just as in the Iraq helicopter snafu where Brian claimed he simply “mis-remembered” which copter he was actually in, now Brian claims he once again “mis-remembered” what his first name was.

“I deeply regret my misfortunate lapse in name recognition. Obviously we both had the same last names, but somehow in my head I had thought my first name was really Evan, so obviously the photo would naturally be me. I deeply admire and appreciate all the hard work that boxers dedicate to their sport and would never want to diminish their efforts as I know now that I was just a spectator, a fan. It’s weird how the mind works. Once you forget your first name and believe it to be another first name, then the mind begins to develop all these memory pathways leading you to believe that you really did fight all those championship matches,” Williams stated.

The internet is once again expected to take Williams to task for his latest claims being debunked, while investigators continue to dig up more instances where the dots just don’t seem to connect in the ongoing saga of the once highly respected news anchor, Brian Williams.
